Sustainability is a process to which we at Storyfabrics are committed. We maintain long-term partnerships with our production companies and are a reliable business partner. Along the value chain, we strive to leave a positive social impact and keep our ecological footprint as small as possible.
Storyfabrics is GOTS certified, our license number is 154665 and can be found in the official GOTS database. We undergo annual external audits and are encouraged to continuously improve. What we have achieved so far:
Environment - ecological footprint
We only use certified organic cotton and wool for our products. In exceptional cases, we work with certified leftover yarns and thus help our partner companies to profitably process valuable resources into beautiful and high-quality products.
We only use natural electricity in our home office. Our warehouse and shipping partner Drahtzug uses green electricity.
We are evaluating our footprint both as a company and are moving towards climate neutrality for the company and offsetting unavoidable CO2 emissions with certificates.
From 2024, we will also evaluate the CO2 emissions along the life cycle of our products (climate neutrality for products) and offset them. However, we also want to go one step further here and are developing a program to take back old products, which we will either make available to social institutions in order to use them for longer or use them as raw materials for upcycling projects.
We are revising our care instructions for Storyfabrics products to help our customers save even more energy when using our products in the future.
We design products that are of high quality and can be repaired. For example, we deliberately decided against zippers in our bed linen because anyone can sew on a button.
We ship our products CO2 neutral in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein and only there. For inquiries from abroad, we help to find a local alternative.
Social impact
We only work with companies that comply with the OECD guidelines and are committed to ethical business conduct.
We are committed to compliance with working conditions in accordance with the ILO. Among other things, these exclude discrimination, forced or child labor and guarantee fair, living wages.
We design products that do not exclude. Our clothing is unisex.
Our warehouse and shipping partner Verein Drahtzug is committed to helping people with mental disabilities. Nothing works for us without our parcel managers. Every parcel is carefully packed using the four-eyes principle. In this way, we avoid incorrect deliveries and help to create meaningful jobs.
Governance - Business ethics
We take our responsibility seriously and ask questions. We check that our international partner companies have valid GOTS and Fairtrade certificates, visit them periodically and request access to audit reports or relevant business documents.
We are inclusive, tolerant and open-minded. And that's how we design products for everyone. We are not a luxury brand for the few. Our clothing is unisex. Where we are currently reaching our limits is with our buttons. We like buttons. But buttons are not particularly practical for people with gout, for example. We have this in mind and are working on a successor solution.
We have a detailed quality management system, continuously check our product quality and periodically adapt our processes.
We exchange information with relevant interest groups and learn from each other. We share best practices, make ourselves aware of new risks and work together to support smaller production partner companies when sales unexpectedly collapse.
We are open to criticism and review feedback on product quality, supply chain issues or business practices of our partner companies that are contrary to our values, regardless of the channel through which they reach us or whether they reach us ananyom.
